The Colours of Islam project had a successful inaugural event for Eid ul Fitr in October 2008. The hospital was extremely grateful and it was a memorable and fun day for the children in a time of great difficulty for them and their families.
Media coverage was given in the Glaswegian and the Cumbernauld news. A follow up story based on highlighting Islam as a giving and generous religion has helped break barriers and act on the stereotypes the media gives to Islam. A lot of racial hatred in the community is caused by ignorance. Kind and generous acts provided through the Colours of Islam project helps educate and inform other communities of the positive side of Islam.
COI managed to raise nearly £7,000 last year with the help of Woolworths and Children first, supplying Yorkhill hospital with 300 individual gifts for all the children as well as contributing gifts for all the wards where many children will benefit.
